I don't mind insults. They're amusing. Just be man (or woman) enough to not be anonymous.
As far as the band name goes, it's not original. Figure that one out.

Do you call yourselfs' The Banana Convention because your female singer looks and sounds like a monkey or is it beacuse you all are fags? Or are you trying to be original?

In the mean time I would like to say hello to all the Fananas and hope all is well with you. At out next few shows you will be hearing some rocking new tracks live!

Tonight is the night! Woo-hoo! Our EP "Freeze Dried Eclectic Singles" will be officially released. It's good, guys, I'm tellin' ya. Seriously. We will only have a few EPs available tonight until the bulk order of them come through, so if you want one now, you better make it out to the show early and get one immediately! I have a feeling we just might sell out of all the copies we'll have on hand tonight.
A Dream By Rock
Monday, 14-Apr-08 08:26:49 EDT
Last night I had a dream. It went like this. Marshall and I were in a television studio/gas station, don't ask me, and we were waiting to go on. We could hear The Banana Convention performing behind the curtain/subway sandwiches. Salt N Pepa were also backstage with us. I asked if they needed anything and they told me to fetch and they threw Marshall down a hill and we rolled down the hill until we hit a front porch. We walked into the door and there was The Banana Convention performing. EVERY member of The Banana Convention. Bill, The Toe Dollies, Buddy, Christy, etc.... So, when we walked in, you motioned to us to get on stage. Then we sung a song and it has been going through my head all morning. All I remember is the chorus. It went like this: Always tell me that you love me and I will always tell you that I love you, too. Then my alarm went off.

It's two full weeks before our next show, and I don't know what to do with myself, so I wanted to stop by and say hi. So Hi! Hope you don't miss us too much.
You can pre-order our EP in the Merch section of the site, so you should do that. It's only $5! Or you can take advantage of the EP/T-Shirt combo and get both for only $10! That right there is a deal. Just call me Monty Hall. See y'all on the 18th!
Okay. It's not as bad as I thought. I balanced my checkbook which took two hours of going through everything and I found that I had a couple of decimal point errors. Also, I wrote a check to Pood for around 11 dollars quite some time ago which never got cashed and that screwed things up too. As it stands I'm not in the hole. I have less than a quarter tank of gas and only around $20 for the next two weeks, which is I'm sure going to gas, but I'm not in the hole yet. I may need to find a way to get some money to live on for the next two weeks but I'm trying other avenues before I bother my friends. Thanks folks, I appreciate the concern.

Hey guys,
I'm posting from SXSW in Austin. Lots of pretentious indy rock rolled up into a few over-hip blocks of the LoneStar State.
Fun and Funny stuff.
Don't take this the wrong way, but the BC would kinda fit in here as y'all are better than the stuff I'm hearing... plus you got that Rust Belt anti-sheen authenticity... I guess you could call it that.
At any rate, the BC is a different vibe from the indy rock norm that's saturating this town right now.
I have a few leads on getting the BC's song's into a few indy films, but I'm still hunting for info on getting a slot somewhere around here in '09.
If, for nothing else, you guys should do this 'fest as it'll show you how other bands do their thing.
Later,

Which new songs are you talking about for lyrics? The songs that are going to be on the EP are Grand Illusion, Crush, Han Solo, Ooo La La, Eugene, She Makes It Easy, and a yet to be decided upon acoustic song by The Mighty Afrodytee.
Perhaps we should put up a lyrics page somewhere on the site. This isn't the first time I've gotten this request

Seriously. What a crazy "rock band" weekend we had. So much fun!
In other news, my favorite band ever, The Presidents of the USA, have a new album, entitled "The Are The Good Times, People", coming out tomorrow. The video for their first single, "Mixed Up SOB", was directed by "Weird Al", my all time favorite. What a great combo! Check out the video for yourself right now!
Man what a weekend. Awesome shows and little sleep. When we got back from Czars I sleep for roughly 14 hours. I went to bed at 7pm and got up around 10:30 am. Maybe my math is a bit off but that is a lot of sleep!

Awesome!! I love the acoustic guitar sound. Maybe y'all should do more acoustic songs?
I love the sound of an acoustic guitar. It is more emotional, more "real" If you know what I mean?
Maybe an acoustic Banana Convention CD? I could call MTV and see if they would start up UNPLUGGED again and put you on their show. I know that I would love it. Heck, if KISS can do UNPLUGGED, so could The BC.
By the way, I love Gerty at the end of the song.

Or is greatness decided on who is faster and can hit as many notes on the syncopated beats?
In all thanks for the nice comment and Ill be more open to Rush, King Crimson and what ever other stuff people say is great and Ill make my own assumptions. Love you fananas!

I agree, that's why my Wooten comment was fecitious. Musical histrionics never impress me. What's in between the notes is more important than the actual notes a lot of times. The best bass musicians really seem to grasp this concept.
I'm not a real musician, but I appreciate the folks who are and realize this.
Mingus I love.
Listen to "II BS" and you'll hear it.
Still, when Pood wants to go crazy on his strings, he can easily do it. Testament to the guy; he actually has the taste and discipline to know when to "behave."

What eves not everone has to bow down to the feet of Victor Whoohoo or Geddy Lee Lee or any of those guys. Im a Foxton/Mingus/Gallup kinda guy. Then again they play melody and pocket and service the songs not them selves. But it is all preference.

Ah yes i sit here in front of this computer smoked some hookah hung out watched the brothers solomon (funny might i add) and havent touched an ounce of homework yet and i prolly should have o well i guess it just means im up later! i also am itching to come back to MI and play me one of them there shows with this band i dont know if youve heard of them but the banana convention? yeah anyway there ya go o wait theres more...i went to see cloverfield tonight with some of my buddys and on the way there a police officer stopped me (i was walking to my friends house btw) and asked me if i lived in the area and if i had a vehicle near by. so i told him all my crap about how im a student here in town and where i was heading and he said ok have a good night. then he followed me to my friends house i went inside not thinking anything of it. he knocks on the door and asks me to step outside he then after asking for my ID proceeds to pat me down. yeah this is also after he unbuttoned the holster to his gun which made me shit my pants. he then took me to the car put me in the back and went in the house to question my friends. after that he came out and apoligized blah blah blah...well the moral of the story is dont walk to a friends house to go see a movie in an area where there was a report of items being stolen cuz well yeah you see right there with what i just told you why its a bad choice/idea!

I can totally hear Ray tearing it up on this. It is a slow chorused filled bass line much like what you would here on Kiss me Kiss me Kiss me,disintegration, and Head on the Door. So Fananas! if you love the Cure and you think thats what I get all my bass stuff from well this one you can tell for sure i did!

Hey All,
Lots of Fananas have been buggin' us about our recording schedule, looking for new tunes hot off the platter. Here's the scoop:
We've just finished doing a seriously extensive re-mix of our EP recorded during the summer last year and we're now in the process of having those songs mastered.
We also want to put one more additional gem onto the wax before it's released and the plan is to record the said particular fresh new tune this week. It's a simple song and will be an awesome addition to the EP. Wait for it... it'll be a nice surprise.
So, all said and done, the new disc will be in your hands in a few weeks. Cool huh?
Once that's done, we'll be following up the EP with the release of our LIVE album recorded at White's Bar. It seriously rocks. We are frightened of it. It's a big yellow monster and you're gonna luv it. We're toying with the idea of adding one more brand-new tune (that we're all enamored with) onto the LIVE record, and we'd like to addendum that to our '07 session as a bonus track when we play at White's Bar again next month. More plantain goodness for y'all!
After we lay that onto the grooves, then we'll send the whole Hot Burrito off to the musical mastering gods for one final layer of fiesta sauce to make it nice and spicy gooey.
You like? Well, that's not all. We're gonna support these tunes with a collection of music videos. You thought the BC was crazy onstage? Wait 'til you see us trying to act in front of the lens!

I just read Pood's blog and it got me thinking how much music was always in my life. The only difference is, I do not feel the need to play an instrument. I would rather others do it and I will listen. I remember growing up with lots of different music. My favorite was in the "Family Room" listening to my Dad's 8-track. He had some good 8-tracks. I remember this one called, Funny Bones. It had some of those silly songs, HA I think there was one called that, too, I think there was one called Goofy Greats, also. Anyway, I remember songs like "Beans In My Ears" "Alley-Oop" "Hey Mister Custer" "Beep Beep" "May The Bird Of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose" I think that 8-track got me hooked on the weirdness of music. Could be why I listen to such bands as WEEN, Beck, Primus, and Cake. I tend to listen to the odder side of music. Thanks, Pood, for making me think of that stuff. I just so happened to find a zip file of that 8-track online. I am downloading now and I am going to be enjoying it again, soon. I will have to set up two bar stools in my house and listen to Beep Beep and when the song goes faster, I will run faster around the bar stools. Speaking of bar stools, Monte or Matt, what was the name of our basement game when we ran around the bar stools and then went into the other room to hide? Dang, this is one ADD riddled post. Thanks, Banana Convention.

Velveteen is not really a Cure inspired song...though I am known for that. It is like American music meets Violent Femmes. Lots of pop, lots of breaks with hand claps and good ol' fashion love for the lost art of the chorus
However I do have a song called The Killing Joke that can fill that love of the Cure in which we know I have and you all should. If your guitar won't stay in tune, that's good. It'll teach you how to listen for pitch when you have to re-tune the strings.
That's very important.
Once you start to hear the colors of pitch it all becomes a lot easier.
Nobody's good when they start. I'm not good and I've been randomly trying to learn for 15 years now.
But do this: Learn how to play an A chord, a D chord, and an E chord. If you can do that you can play "Telephone Song."
Once you can play that, then learn G and C, and you'll pretty much be able to play about half the songs we do.
Good Luck!
